Annual Gifts
As a non-profit organization, Oakwood Cemeteries of Syracuse relies on the generosity of people like you who value the history, architecture and natural beauty that is found within it’s rolling 160 acres. Donations help ensure that Oakwood Cemetery is not only preserved but enhanced for generations to come.
Oakwood Cemetery gratefully accepts tax-deductible donations. Your support will ensure that this Central New York cultural treasure’s historically significant buildings, landmarks, and landscape, as well as the stories they tell for the City of Syracuse will not only be preserved but enhanced for future generations to enjoy.
In addition to providing additional resources for Gifts to Oakwood Cemetery assist with such things as the upkeep and maintenance of historically significant mausoleums and the Silsbee Chapel, restoring and replacing veteran grave markers and headstones, updating roads and drainage, and repairing fallen monuments.
Bequests
Did you know that you can remember Oakwood Cemetery in your will or estate plan? You can make such a gift, or “bequest” to Oakwood Cemeteries of Syracuse, through your will or trust at the time of your passing in any number of ways, including a gift of cash, appreciated stock or property or through a beneficiary designation in a retirement account or life insurance policy.
Including Oakwood Cemetery in your estate planning is as simple as including the following sentence in your will:
I give, devise and bequeath to Oakwood Cemeteries Foundation of Syracuse, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, located in Syracuse, NY, the rest, residue and remainder (or state all, a $ amount, or a percentage) of my estate, both real and personal, to be used for its general support.
A bequest is an extraordinary expression of your commitment to preserving one of Syracuse’s most precious historical assets, but one that costs you nothing during your lifetime. We encourage you to discuss options and the impact they may have on your estate and personal situation with your attorney and/or financial advisor.
